Custom Fields
After you have found a collection, you can open it by sending it to an Object Details Viewer (ODV). The Custom Fields tab allows you to view and update the collection’s custom field values.
Custom fields enable user-specific workflows, feedback, and analysis. A common use case is text-based fields, which allow users to summarize collections or record detailed analytical notes.
Viewing Custom Fields
Custom fields may appear inside accordions or outside of them. This layout is configured by a configurator.
The order of custom fields and accordions is also defined by the configurator.
- Checkbox custom fields support filtering by checked or unchecked values. Click the More menu (⋮) next to the field title and select All, Checked, or Unchecked to control visibility.
- Multichip custom fields include a search input to help filter long option lists. Click the field and enter a search term.
Modifying Custom Field Values
- Text fields can be edited by clicking into the input and typing. Changes are saved automatically when you exit the field.
- Rich Text fields require clicking Edit to make changes. Click Update to save or Cancel to discard.
- Select fields are updated by clicking the menu and choosing a value.
- Checkbox fields are updated by checking or unchecking options.
- Multichip fields are updated by selecting one or more options from the list.
- Remove individual values by clicking X next to the value.
- Remove all values by clicking X at the far right of the field.
Text and rich text fields lock while a user is editing to prevent concurrent changes. Fields unlock after changes are submitted or after 30 minutes of inactivity, at which point changes are saved automatically.
